I know it has been a while since I last blogged but don’t let it fool you into thinking that my love for fashion and what’s new has lessened. Flipping through magazines, strolling down the streets and traveling have given me such insight into the new trends for this fashion season.

This season I feel is all about mixing old with new. Find a piece in your closet that you already know and love and then build your outfit around that or spice up and old outfit with something new. Mixing brand new pieces with vintage has been “in” for quite some time now, but now more than ever. It’s all about the pops of color this season.

Everyone has forgotten how to have fun with their clothing. Youthful splashes of bright colors and retro geometric patterns can add that perfect touch to any outfit. Popping in many different designer collections from Marc Jacobs to Chanel, bright colors are here to stay. Another trending topic that is here to stay in the cross body bag. Whether it is in leather, nylon, or any other fabric this is definitely an investment worth investing in. A perfect example being light greys and whites with a neon green accent piece. Some might think this is a little too juvenile, but isn’t that what fashion is about, having fun? Living life to its greatest and most wonderful moments? Who embodies that more than the young?

“Style is everything”

First of all the food was GREAT, everyone should check out Empress on broad street.  The atmostphere is quaint and perfect for a glass of wine on their cozy couch.  The wine selcetion is great! I think a new fav is going to be Malbec wines (thanks to Chandni ), delicious. They also have a Layer Cake wine which is a great choice with lamb!  So I could go on and on about the food you will have to check it out yourself. 

Great food and fab company make for a awesome evening and a 4 hour dinner!  There are some dinner’s that make you want to leave after the first course, or run after your last bite, but sometimes the conversation and company can be so perfect you forget about the time.   For me, its very rare I connect with a female, and in the past our friendships come and go.  But, this year maybe life will take an unexpected turn.  Who would’ve thought I find another female as ambitions as me, spontaneous, and full of life ready to take on the world.  If anything I believe my dinner was inspiring and pushed me to keep doing what I am doing, and not to let others thoughts and ideals seep into my head. 

I live life the way I choose, and there is nothing wrong with that.  It’s so nice to be able to sit down with someone who shares alot of the same ideas and views on life and life experiences.   We talked about life, love and the future but there is no way you can sit down to dinner with me and not talk fashion!  Everything from Alexis Bittar, Christian Louboutin shoes, and the pyschology behind women who wear heels verses those who prefer flats (…next blog entry, stay tuned), was on the table.  Your style speaks volumns about who you are, and that by it self is 4 hour conversation lol.  

All in all it was great evening, with intellectual and humor filled converstion, the perfect way to “wine” down the day.

Close your eyes,

Imagine walking down the street while the world around you moves in slow motion.  Surreal, Scary or both? 

Both…

That’s a good example of what life has been like for me.  Everyday of  my life I make a choice to walk in the middle of the street or to stay on the sidewalk.  Whichever I choose it’s important to stay in control.   The cars flying down the road will hurt and I may get scares,  but I made it through alive with reminders of the journey. 

Everyday I’m in  the middle of the road watching the world in slow motion.   I’ve been scared and even got hit a few times but I’ve stood back up, of course wearing a great pair of shoes.  But, until recently I noticed the people on the sidewalk .   

This was my turning point. 

I realize that the easy part is knowing that  no matter how bad you want something, until you decide not to let a car or sidewalk get in your way, you will never get it.  The hardest  part is understanding that you might be alone during the process. People might not understand your ideas.  Your friends may not call you anymore.  Your relationships may not last.  You may have no money and may loose your inspiration every other day.   That’s tough.  But, might have been exactly what I needed.   

I turned around..

…made sure I was  pointed in the right direction and not just following  traffic.  Then I stood there making sure I’m reaching for my dreams and goals for me.  Because in the end it will just be me and my great pair of shoes and if I’m blessed enough and have time, there will be a great suit and trendy tie or maybe a pair of  jeans and button up walking beside me along the way.

That was me last Thursday.  It was the biggest of event of my career thus far, Cure by Design Fashion Show.   I’m listed as the producer so I must make sure it all goes well.  I had a great team by my side and everyone involved was doing what they needed to do.  It was great.. smooth sailing..

September 10th,  

Wears the DRESS!! We packed everything.. we double checked..what did we miss..  Its the finally dress , am I over looking it? How do I tell the model she has nothing to wear? AHHHHH

(Okay breath… just look)  shwuuuu  I found it. Then I hear another voice,  “Rain did we forget the pants..??” Pants for what..lol.. lol..

All of the abve conversation is what is to be expected for any fashion show. You can plan everything down to the T and there will be something that you missed, or something that needs to be changed or adjusted.  It is what I love about what I do.  Problem solving.  Last Friday was a spectacular event.  I enjoyed working with an amazing team Davia, Alli, Grace,Sophia and Lem.  You guys are the best team ever.  Besides my team, I had the opportunity to work with ACS ( American Cancer Society).  A great team of passionate people who all pulled together for this event and more importantly this cause.  Everyone played their roll, and assisted where need be.   It was so smooth.. it was great!!

All the models looked great wearing designs from NYFO, Jonathan Kaine, Montoya, Irresistables, PINK, Eurotrash, Alex Garfield, La Grand Dame, Francos and Tommy Hillfiger. 

The moto for the day was ” You are in Richmond, have fun!!”  It was a day to feel glamours and special.  I believe the with everyone’s input each model was given the royal treatment. 

The point of the night was definitly recieved. It was about the surviors what they went through and what they overcame.   It was their time to Shine!

….Whats Lollipops have to do with it?

As of August 22nd, 2010 I turned 25.  I am officially half way to thirty. AHHHH!!!

That just means I have to buckle down and really focus on my long term and short term goals.  Whether it be in business or in love.   Both are very passionate  parts of my life.  I have a great career that is really starting to pick up, every week I am surprised by what unfolds.  I great  people in my life who helps to keep me balanced and encouraged when the weights get to heavy.   It’s real life.   It’s not meant to be easy,  how would you learn, right?    Then there’s love,  and I love to love and of course who doesn’t want to be loved??    When you start to get everything you want and prayed for and things start to fall in place, it makes it all worth it when there is someone there to watch you grow and see you accomplish your dreams.

It’s great, my dreams are coming true my career is headed where I never thought it would be right now,  I should be ecstatic and happy.   But, you know what always makes me happy, a new pair of shoes!  What is it about a brand new pair of unworn shoes that always works?   For a split second,  they love you back.

Sigh,  one things I have learned is that when you believe that something can happen and put it out there … you can will it into existence.   That’s what I do everyday.  Don’t think to hard, just let things happen and stay focused on what you want and believe that you can have it.  Whether it is the career of  your dreams, love that loves you back, or a great pair of shoes. You can have it all.   Trust me.  It’s possible.

No time left… and wheres the DRESS!!

Where do I start…. I have so much to talk about.  How about I work backwards to now.  Well most recent, business is growing, so EXCITING!  I can’t believe that I am actually doing what I love  and getting paid for it.  How many people can actually say that??

My personal shopping clientele has grown and I am working in conjunction with American Cancer Society(ACS) on the Cure By Design fashion as the Retail Chair.   I love love styling and even though there are somedays where things are very over whelming ,  I love it and wouldn’t trade it for the world.  Having the opportunity to work with designers such as Tommy Hilfiger, Jonathan Kayne etc.  is amazing and I couldn’t have imagined that I would be where I am today a year ago.

Today I woke up with so much on my mind.

“What am I going to wear?” Do I need to got to Virginia Beach?” Am I going to have enough time to get my work done today?” “Is it going to rain?”

All of this was circulating in my head, but my focus this morning was that today was going to be a day of new beginnings.  Today I was inspired by a friends blog and I think I need to “Clear the Clutter.”   I have mess around me in many different areas, both physically and mentally.   I used to force myself not to entertain “noise” in my head, but it’s hard sometimes with there is so much “noise” around me.  I alone have my own noise and that is enough!!  I don’t need anyone else nor do I need to be around those that seem to create “unnecessary noise.”   To quote another friends “This week is NO NEGATIVE week.” I will try and stay positive and not let negative energies penetrate the little bubble of a world that I have created.  The stress isn’t worth it.

I think I will make it easy for myself today, no heels, no dress today. Today is a sweat pants and tank day.  Today is a hair up in a curly pony day.  Today is a glasses no contacts day.  Today I will wear make up but minimal…lol.

I am going to let creativity take over and just relax.  Today I am going to .. *Clear out the Clutter

The food was definetley apart of the show.  Between a dessert table of gourmet cookies, a table of 4 different types of gazpacho, one area had black bean salad and another with seafood and a bit of a Mexican twist.   My favorite had to be the scallops dipped in a honey pineapple sauce or the sun-dried tomato pasta salad.  Okay who am I kidding I enjoyed all the food!!

I roamed the room out a little.  I looked at both the men and the women, accessing the overall clothing decor.  Although there were many who should’ve look in the mirror maybe one more time, there were some that were tres ch

ic from head to toe.  Favorite outfit of the night, an all leather vintage dress accented with a floral patterned button down the front.  It was chic at first sight.   Then there were men some who wore suites and pulled the looked together from head to toe, and then those who wanted to be more cozy with out the suit jacket adding  a hint of style with their tie.   THERE were some that looked like they just got off the tracker!!  Yes, can you believe it. Someone who come to an establishment like the VMFA in fatigue pants, black t-shirt, and white sneakers!  I was floored.  (I should’ve given him my card..mmmm)

But, the evening was an overall success. Networking and mingling about each other companies and laughing over cocktails and great food.

Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte have done it again ..maybe not so much in the plot line of the movie but when it came to “iconic” style they didn’t disappoint with the clothes, shoes, and continues eye candy of glitter, jewels and colorful silk gowns.  Every girl dreams of having a closet like Carrie.  If only we all could be awakened by a never ending closet of couture and vintage gowns and shoes and never ending jewelry and handbags!! (sigh)

The premier was Wednesday night at Movieland (Bowtie) and with universal anticipation I arrived at the cinema early to get the entire experience and to see who was going to show up.

Ladies were dressed and ready to walk the catwalk.  Three theaters SOLD OUT! ” I can’t sit with the rest of my girlfriends!! Who will I discuss the movie with? We color coordinated and everything! ugggh! ” One sex and the city fanatic said to her girlfriend.

Sex And The City is no joking matter. Ladies and yes… Gents take this movie seriously!!   As I walked in to the theater I saw the 35+ crowd.  NOTE TO THEM: Flip Flops and sweats are unexceptionable for a premier.  It’s almost a fashion crime to be seen at THIS movie is such attire.  You should be ashamed of yourselves.

This is the way to go to a premier...Glam!

Fashion has no color but the Ebony ladies were doing their thing.  Dressed in the seasons trends and personal style always accesorized with a 3 inch heel.  Looked great ladies.  For every 5 well dressed ladies there was aleast one who forgot to look in the mirror.

NOTE TO THEM:  Ladies win and doubt get a second opinion

(Wow the guy behind me is “fabulous” and I’m going to leave it at that.)

It’s 11:50 and the movies begins in ten minuets a group of 30 ladies and gents pull out a fimilar 3 inch bottle and took SHOTS!! The crowd takes notice and everyone cheers and the lights start to dim…. The music starts and…..
